A freewrite is taking a subject or an idea and going with it for a certain amount of time. When doing a freewrite you write fast and not efficiently. You do not want to worry about what it sounds like you just want to write as much as you can.
Freewrite help you by getting you out of the zone of editing while you write. It helps you by freeing your mind for the time you are writing. As I write this I keep backspacing and editing while I go; making sure each sentence sounds like the last one. It makes it hard to get what you want on the screen because you somewhat forget where you were going with something. Freewrites help because you don't care that you missed the apostrophe in "don't" or that you misspelled "apostrophe," which lets you move on and get everything you want down on the paper or screen.
In my last English 100 class the professor had us do some freewrites so I knew what to expect from the paper. I do love freewrites and I completely understand why they help, but the only thing I do not like about them is that my hand starts to hurt from writing so much.

Autobiography
Hi, I'm Ryan Lackey. The biggest thing you should know about me is that I'm extremely into social media and I love the internet. I post videos on YouTube, I am constantly on Tumblr, and I love to have people know what I'm doing and accomplishing. My dream career right now would be getting partnered for YouTube (get paid through Google) and just live off that but currently I work at GAP Outlet.
I was born in California and have never moved from it. I plan to move to Arizona with a good friend at the end of my career here at SRJC. When I started at this college I didn't want to be here and I really have never felt comfortable in a classroom setting. I flunked my first year at the JC and I'm just trying my hardest to get out and get my AA. I can't decide if on what I want to do with my life but I do know it will be in digital art. The reason why I'm not too motivated in college is because for Graphic Design, Web Design, and some aspects of Film I don't feel like you need a piece of paper to do it or be good at it.
I'm a hands on learner and I typically like to get things done day one they are provided to me so I don't have to worry about them later on. If I take too long to do something I won't do it. I want to learn how to write better so that when you read my essays it makes sense. A lot of teachers in the past have told me I write like Im talking to you which is bad and I shouldn't do it.
